Lucie Larrive

It was while working in a studio in London for four years, at the age of 17, that I discovered Turner’s drawing, charcoal, and luminous work.
It was truly a first revelation.

This work of the encounter with the play of light/dark, light/matter, was ever continuing. Back in France, I began to paint with watercolour. This medium allows me to go deeper, to play endlessly with transparency. The approach and the quality of the light became the centre of all my searching, piercing their mystery becomes the essence of my quest.

Many years later, I discovered the work of Liane Collot d’Herbois, an English painter, and her research on colour and light. This was a second revelation. Training for a few years in Paris enabled me to integrate her approach. These two media, charcoal and watercolour, allow the full expression of my artistic work …
